Rules Storm The Castle – Populonia Trail 2018
Art. 1 GENERAL INFORMATION
Outdoor Sports Festival A.S.D. is organizing the fourth edition of “Storm the Castle”, a 16 km running race, beginning in Gulf of Baratti at 6 pm on Saturday 2nd June 2017. All information can be found at www.barattisportsfestival.it
Art. 2 REGISTRATION
All adult athletes with a valid (on 2 June 2018) medical certificate for competitive sports can register to run in the Storm the Castle 2018. Athletes that have been disqualified for using doping substances may not participate. Registration opens on 5th March 2018 and closes the day of the race or when the maximum number of 400 runners has been reached.
Art. 3 REGISTRATION FEE
The registration fee is 14.00 Euro when paid before 05/04/2018 and 18.00 Euro from 06/04/2018 to 15/05/18 and 22.00 Euro from 16/05/18 and includes:
. race bib number
. assistance along the route
. gadgets
. event card
In the event of non-participation, the fee cannot be refunded.
Art. 4 MEDICAL CERTIFICATE
Italian athletes must present a copy of their valid medical certificate for competitive sports when picking up their bib number. Medical certificates must comply with the B1 model: track and field, running, endurance and skiing (excluding downhill skiing). Athletes who only present a FIDAL membership card, or one from other sports organizations, without a suitable medical certificate shall not be allowed to participate. Foreign athletes should get their sports doctor to fill in, stamp and sign the medical certificate posted here
Art. 5 COLLECTION OF BIB NUMBER AND RACE KIT
Bib numbers and race kits can be picked up at the Athlete Village in Baratti Saturday 2nd June from 9.30 am to 16.00 pm.
Art. 6 STARTING POINT
Runners must be at start point before 5.45 pm on Saturday 2nd June. The race will start at 6 pm.
Art. 7 SAFETY
Organization staff will be present at the riskiest junctions along the route. An ambulance with paramedical staff will be on standby at the finish line.
Art. 8 ENVIRONMENT
Participants must respect the environment and avoid abandoning rubbish. Whoever is caught dropping rubbish along the route will be disqualified from the race. Storm the Castle complies with the “I don’t drop my rubbish” campaign promoted by Spirito Trail.
Art. 9 WEATHER
In the case of adverse weather conditions (dense fog, severe thunder storms), the Organizers reserve the right to make last-minute changes, even during the race, to the route in order to eliminate potential hazards or conditions that could cause hardship for participants and volunteers. The staff shall inform the participants of any changes and signpost them. The Organizers also reserve the right to suspend or cancel the race if weather conditions are such that they put participants, volunteers or medical teams at risk.
If the race is interrupted or cancelled for adverse weather conditions, or for any other reason not dependent on the Organizers, no fee refund will be made.
Art. 10 DISQUALIFICATION
The following infringements will lead to immediate disqualification with withdrawal of bib number:
– taking shortcuts
– abandoning rubbish along the race route
– failing to aid a fellow participant in difficulty
– insulting or threatening the staff or volunteers
Art. 11 MAXIMUM TIME LIMITS, DROPPING OUT
The maximum time permitted to reach the finish line is 3 hours (before 9 pm on Saturday 2nd June). A “pick up” service will follow the last runner, in order to help athletes who withdraw and to be sure that anyone with injuries is assisted.
Art. 12 REFRESHMENT POINT
There is one refreshment points on the route. Athletes are advised to bring half a litre of water with them.
Art. 13 PRIZES
There are no cash prizes. Non monetary prizes shall be awarded to the first 5 men and the first 5 women. There are no category prizes.
Art. 14 IMAGE USE RIGHTS
By registering, runners authorise the Organizers to freely use any still or moving images depicting athletes during their participation in Storm the Castle, with no territorial or time limits.
Art. 15 WAIVER OF RESPONSIBILITY
Voluntary registration and participation in the race indicates full acceptance of these race rules and any changes made.
